Welcome to second edition of the Residential Aged Care Communiqué for 2025 which focusses on the complex and difficult issues around medical treatment decision-making at the end of life care in people with cognitive impairment. The subject arose from two unrelated investigations into the deaths of two older persons. One was due to pressure injury and the other was due to sepsis. The expert commentary is by Dr Rohan Wee, an experienced geriatrician with an interest in managing patients with cognitive impairment.
