There are lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic for improving residential aged care. Around the world, the pandemic has disproportionately affected older people especially those living in residential aged care. Residents have the highest case fatality rate and generally accounted for 50% of all deaths from COVID-19 and yet comprise less than one percent of the general population.
